How do Cardboard Balers function?

Here is a brief explanation of how cardboard balers function at the workplace.

Balers for cardboard are helpful

Any firm that deals with packaging of any kind will probably generate some cardboard waste.

If that is the case, a cardboard baler can be a very helpful addition that is better for the environment and keeps the workplace cleaner and safer.

Although cardboard balers come in a variety of forms, sizes, and varieties that are specifically made to fit particular business sectors and industries, they all function in the same basic way: they reduce the volume of cardboard so that it is easier to move, have collected, and recycled.

How to operate a Cardboard Baler

The operation of a cardboard baler is described in depth and step-by-step below:

  • Connect the baler to a power supply. Whether it’s a hydraulic baler or a pneumatic baler, you will need a suitable power source.
  • Ensure that the operator is either a trained staff member or that a trained staff member is present.
  • Load the cardboard into the baler’s chamber
  • Once the chamber is full, close the main door and pull the activation switch
  • This activates the baler’s ram, which presses down the cardboard
  • For safety reasons, EN16500-compliant balers allow no access to moving parts
  • Repeat until the cardboard inside the chamber forms a compact bale and the machine indicates that it ready to be emptied
  • Tie off the finished bale using appropriate banding
  • Empty the baler through either a manual or automated bale-out mechanism
  • Stack and store the cardboard bales, which can be collected by a recycler

Cardboard Balers come in a variety of Sizes and Styles

Pneumatic cardboard balers are frequently smaller and are advised for lesser load and lean, on-production applications while hydraulic cardboard balers are typically larger.

Small-footprint cardboard balers can compress 35 kg of cardboard on the smaller end, but larger factories or warehouses can employ balers that can hold 500 kg of cardboard.

Additionally, horizontal balers process a significant amount of packaging material. Balers that operate with both plastic and cardboard are also available.

Balers for cardboard are long-lasting, simple to operate, and require little staff training.

Several Baler Choices

Cardboard balers come in a wide variety of models and brands, and although while they all serve the same purpose, they all function in unique ways.

Always make sure that you and your co-workers have received the necessary training or certifications before using the equipment. When in doubt, refer to the user guide or get in touch with the supplier.
