Thousands of plastic bottles compacted 90%

Plastic bottles can be compressed by up to 90% using a Mil-tek baler. See our experiment where we bale up thousands of PET bottles!

Compacting plastic bottles

PET bottle disposal is a major issue that particularly affects the food industry. Plastic bottles take up a lot of room, thus it is preferable to compress them in order to save space and prepare them for shipping to be recycled.

Getting rid of the air within PET bottles is one of the biggest obstacles to effectively reducing their volume. To do this, you need a machine that is strong enough to crush the bottles adequately. A Mil-tek hydraulic baler can do this job easily.

PET bottles take up space

To demonstrate how much a baler may improve waste management, Mil-tek has carried out a little experiment, showing the effect of reducing waste with a baler.

In this case, we wanted to reduce the volume of PET bottles which, as you can see, take up a lot of space when stored as waste.

One bale of thousands of PET bottles

The many thousands of plastic bottles were compacted into just one bale of 217 kg. The bale fits on an ordinary euro pallet and can easily be transported for storing or recycling.

Prior to the experiment, all capsules were removed from the bottles and they were emptied of excess contents. This results in an end product, the compacted bale, which there is a greater preference to pick up for waste collectors.
